Today I’m starting a 100 Day Challenge. Now, for someone who basically can’t even complete a 7 Day Challenge of anything, this might seem like a terrible idea. But here I am.
100 DAYS. 3 GOALS.
- Lose 15 pounds
- Declutter my house
- Create discipleship curriculum for Fall 2018
GOAL 1: Lose 15 pounds
For the record, I need to lose a whole lot more than 15 pounds, but this seems reasonable for 100 days, which is just over 14 weeks.
WHY? Can I be totally honest? Because I want to look good! There. I said it. I want to be able to go shopping, buy cute clothes and feel cute. I am in front of people a lot and as much as I don’t want it to matter, it totally does. Sigh. But I also feel like hot garbage right now. I’m only 5 feet tall. I am 40-ish pound overweight. That’s too much. I want to walk up the (extremely slight incline of the) church driveway and not feel winded. I love to hike and right now, with all this weight, it’s HARD. I want to have the energy to keep up with my grandkids. And as shallow as my first reason is, I also want to honor God with my body. I believe He expects us to steward well the gifts He has given us. My physical body is a gift. I haven’t stewarded it well. Sure, I don’t smoke or drink or do drugs. But I make unhealthy food choices and I definitely fall into the “sedentary” category. Big. Fat. Sigh.
HOW? I joined the Wellness Witness At-Home Tribe. This is a membership site that provides amazing support and encouragement. AND a workout calendar with actual videos you can do at home. I will probably never reach the level of all organic, all natural, all whatever, but I’m focusing on making healthier choices overall. My exercise goal is to workout 4 times a week. That’s doable, right? I’m not talking hardcore cross-fit. I just need to move! You can check out The Guide to Good Enough Eating over at Wellness Witness.
GOAL 2: Declutter my house
WHY? I can’t stand clutter. That doesn’t mean I don’t have any. Because I do. I function waaaaayyyyyy better in a simple environment.
HOW? I made a list of all the rooms and areas that I need to declutter. I am simply taking 5 to 15 minutes per day (sometimes more if I just get super motivated!) to work through the list. I actually started this a few weeks ago and I have completed my bedroom and closet. Y’all – there is NOTHING under my bed except one box that holds my travel toiletries. (I have a ridiculously small master bathroom.)
GOAL 3: Create discipleship curriculum for Fall 2018
WHY? The short answer is I am tired of large group Bible studies that make it almost impossible for the women of my church to really connect with God and each other. I want to create a plan for discipling 5 – 6 ladies in a small group setting. My husband and I have discovered that even though we are in the Bible belt, not everyone knows the basics of Christianity. We want to help people discover for themselves what the Bible teaches about being a disciple of Christ.
HOW? I have already created an outline for each week. During this 100 Days, I want to create a discussion guide to be used in the weekly group. Completing 1 chapter a week is more than enough for our first session of discipleship that begins in the Fall.
