Happy New Year! Pretty exciting stuff, right? I mean, it’s New Year’s Day ON A MONDAY. How’s that for a fresh start?!?!
A fresh start for you. A fresh start for me. A fresh start for the blog.
Are you ready to grab hold of the abundant life? 2018 can be the year that you shake off the poverty mentality and step into abundance!
No. I’m not saying you’re going to end the year a millionaire. (But if you do, don’t forget me, friend!)
What I am saying is that 2018 can be the year you experience the abundant blessings that God has been waiting to pour out on you.
NOTE: This blog is meant to be interactive. You will find exercises in each post to help you discover God’s truth for yourself. I encourage you to take the time to journal what God is revealing to you.
CREATED FOR ABUNDANCE
- Read through Genesis 1. Make a list of all that God created.
When God created the earth, He thought of everything. He designed a home for us that would provide every single thing we needed. The Garden of Eden was a paradise on earth. Adam and Eve were granted an experience that none of us have ever known.
Not only did they have abundant provision for their physical needs, they had a very personal and intimate relationship with God. He walked in the Garden with them and they shared a unique communion with Him.
Adam and Eve had also been commissioned for purpose.
- Write out Genesis 1:28.
- Underline the key words and write out their meaning. (Webster’s 1828 dictionary is a great resource for this!)
Adam and Eve had everything they needed to become who God created them to be and to do what God created them to do. They had an abundance of resources at their fingertips. Anything was possible!
Yet within all of the abundance, a thief lurked.
We all know what happens next. (If you don’t, read Genesis 3 for the heartbreaking story of the Fall.)
In a moment, the abundance was gone.
No longer did Adam and Eve enjoy the peace and joy of the Garden. Their relationship with God was changed forever. Their choices released a new era on the earth.
Banished from the Garden, they faced struggle and hardship. They lived under a curse that still affects us today.
Sin had been unleashed on the earth. The joyful abundant life Adam and Eve once knew was gone.
Yet God, in His great love and grace and mercy, was working out a plan for redemption. A plan to restore to us the abundant life the enemy had stolen.
- In your journal, write about a time of abundance in your life. Are you still experiencing that abundance? Journal your thoughts.
